Mission

The project partners, RWTH Aachen University (RWTH), Asian Institute of Technology Bangkok (AITB), Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), United Nations University – Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES) and Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) are joining forces in an effort to address the global challenge of climate change with a particular focus on water security and climate change adaptation in a systematic manner. What unites the five project partners, is the shared idea that global problems need a global solution and that scientific cooperation between North and South is the need of the hour. The Centre to be established shall be a manifestation of this idea and shall work towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals. SDG-6 is intended to ensure “availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. Achieving SDG-6 is central to the overall agenda. Clean water and sanitation facilities are considered by the UN as “basic human rights”. In this sense, it should be acknowledged the interconnected dynamic between SDG-6 targets and every other Goal.
